Interestingly, Da Vinci invented his own style of backwards writing that needed a mirror to be read, so there could be a grain of truth in this.

Anything is possible. He was a pretty clever / brilliant guy.
All that it requires to hid images in this manner is to paint certain things along a common axis. Perhaps he did for amusement - to play with the minds of people.

Side note: has anyone here ever taken a picture of fire, then mirror split it in photoshop? When I was eleven I did, and ended up with some pretty strange pictures. This is complete bullshit. Coincidence. I f anything is distorted enough it will appear profound. Case in point: the bible codes. -
