It can be a problem, but it can also be a great thing, right? I hope so at least - it'd be too depressing to think otherwise.

The problem with American politics is people vote for a president "who they'll want to have a beer with" instead of someone who can really do the job.

nice phoenix, I'm glad you remember that. That was a low point in American public discourse.

Thanks stephen. Let's just hope enough Americans remember what *not* to do this November, when they're at the voting booth.

The problem with politics is . . .

It is not the function of our Government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the Government from falling into error.

our greatest leaders have been reluctant to hold office:washington, jefferson, lincoln, f.d.r.

the problem with american politics is that politicians are ambitious to win votes and hold office, not to lead or govern, thus they assume any popular position to win votes (this is the definition of 'politically correct' - take any position that will win votes) even if the majority position is wrong.
?majority = wrong? wiki 'spanish inquisition', 'slavery', 'protestant reformation', 'witch burning', 'universal suffrage'..............
this country has never had such a lack of leadership.

We don't even have a majority vote for president. Senators are the ones who make the difference. I really could care less who is president as long as the senators do their job - which they don't.

The above link finds Republican Senator Arlen Spector enraged about the destroyed videotapes -not of the CIA water boarding, but of the New England Patriots "scandal". What a waste.
