Current TV is all about democratizing the media. We don't have news as entertainment, we have user-generated news. How about user-generated users reading the news?
I have to say, I hate the robotic voice. It represents what I so dislike about our modern world: the cold, unhumanness of so many machines taking the place of people. A human's voice is real, warm and sensitive. A robot's voice is so ugly to listen to, I don't want to listen to the human-picked news. Why not have different Current.com participants read the news? It would be so great! They could submit their news clips via the website!
Please, unplug Robot woman.
I know you guys love her, but really, people are better than robots. Plus, there are a lot of out-of-work voice actors who would kill to read the news for Current.com. I bet I can find you 25 in a day.

...I don'thave a webcam, I was going to, but I ended up saving it for a new car, Toyota hiluxe with an optional hardback...you just can't save animals in an Renault Espcace over 13 years old! -

The idea of having users read the news is certainly something we've considered. For starters, though, the robot voice gives us a reliable, always available, and efficient solution to the problem of staffing voiceover talent 24/7.
But Current:News is an evolving product and we look forward to experimenting with different approaches and solutions in the future. The more we can turn the product over to our users, the better. But hey, the idea of a user-driven news show on television has never been attempted before.
Getting users comments on web cam is an important first step toward getting more "real" people on air - in their voice. I'm looking forward to seeing all of your faces!

I've been absolutely hooked on Current TV. I check it before heading to school to stay up to date on all the happenings of the world. I don't channel surf anymore either. When I watch tv, I'm always checking you out. Keep it coming!

The whole concept is mind boggling to me. It reminds me of what Oprah has just achieved through the release of Eckhart Tolle's new book "A New Earth: Awakening to your life's purpose." She has created an online classroom where viewers from all over the world can attend a live interactive classroom with chat room and streaming video.
But your concept takes the information the other way and allows the viewers to influence the content of the news and that is revolutionary in the media world. I remember years ago a TV channel that broadcast music videos that were selected by users who called in and made their selections; much like a juke box. In fact it was called "The Boxx".
Well thank you so much for your challenge and I have decide to finally go out and buy myself a webcam and some nice lighting so I won't look like I am ranting in the dark. hah hah

So I actually like the robot voice. I like the consistency of one objective voice (rather than new user-voices each podcast). In a world filled with cable news show ranting, the robot voice is an interesting metaphor for news as pure objectivity. The only injection of opinion comes from the various quotes from real people rather than talking heads.
And on top of that I love the lady robot's techno-cool hotness...! -

Definitely like the robot! The voice makes it seem very futuristic. Can't wait to see what the robot is going to be coming out with next. I like how Current is keeping itself on top of the game by keeping things new and fresh.
Did you guys come up with name yet? -
okay i would love to try this someday, just i am so dang shy and probably would not look good on cam.. but perhaps i will try to over come my shyness and do it.. Peace.. I love current tv. I'm so addicted to it.. and met so many great people.. Peace everyone
