no. i cannot tell anything. and when i have seen photos of myself intentionally trying to express sensuality, i look angry or stupid!

Tracy, 72% is a lot more than half. Even if you're confused about percentages and counts, 72 is less than half of 153, not "slightly more". To avoid embarrassment, you probably should get a math editor to look at your work before you publish anything with numbers in it. Not that I'd necessarily believe the premise of that article any more than you do...
-
Commenter, it isn't that the participants were correct 72 percent of the time; it's that 72 percent of the participants were correct more than half of the time. I wasn't referring to the 72 percent figure as being "slightly mor than half," but the fact that just over half of those participants' guesses were correct.

Tracy-- Thanks for your response. Sorry for my somewhat harsh remarks about your math. I should have framed my remarks as a question rather than a judgment. I've listened to your video several more times, and can understand what you're talking about. However, the way I usually interpret cadences and pauses in speech still would lead me to think you consider 72% to be slightly more than half of 153...if I didn't now know better. There may be hazards for both presenters and listeners in audio articles versus written ones, perhaps especially when math is involved.

Tracy,
However you explain the math, it comes down to the fact that 72% of the people were more right than wrong in their identification of possible partners. That *is* significant and tells me *something* is present that we don't understand.
Scenario: I am one of the people that recognize this characteristic "more than half the time". I'm in a bar. There is less than about 12.5% chance that I will be rejected by three women in a row. So I "score" more easily & quickly than others who do not recognize whatever this is.
So, the upshot is: If this recognition is real and a person is usually available for one-night stands, this person will be hit upon 72% of the time vs. x% the non-recognized subject would be hit upon. Two ways to look at that 72% figure

Tracy,
While your response that the "actual results" are somewhat limiting i n this case this presents a couple of problems.
1: 110 of 153 persons choosing a correct response more than half the time is indicative of a substantial effect. Imagine the pain that a casino would endure if 72% of the gamblers at a blackjack table were correct in choosing whether to hit or stay even 50.1% of the time.
2: Your entire point assumes that being receptive to casual sex makes a woman (or man) slutty. I can't see how this doesn't degrade women (assuming you are referring only to women in terms of the study, haven't seen it so I can't judge, but your post seems to imply it.). A woman should have the right to enjoy casual sex and not be called a slut. Continuation of this myth is a form of paternalism and should be rejected by "feminists" out of hand.
3: While almost all statistical studies are nonsense ("our drug reduces the rates of cancer by 100% from 2 in a million to 1 in a million"), without giving real details of the study at hand, you continue the poor reportage of people who cite statistical studies to back up their points. How many of the pictured participants actually were receptive to casual sex? if only 10 of the photos were of persons wanting casual sex and 72% got it right more than half of the time, is this more relevant? Is it less?

Well Tracy, we've had a chance to look at your eyes and facial features and, hey hey!

not sure i get the 'so what' factor here. people can read facial signs, okay. some people misread facial signs, okay.
"Your entire point assumes that being receptive to casual sex makes a woman (or man) slutty." right on jsheb. Equal opportunity means the right to sleep with whomever whenever (as long as there is agreement between both [or all] parties; i'd hate to be accused of contributing to rape culture).

the eyes are commonly reffered to as, a window to the soul, i think you can find so much more about a person by their eyes beside if they are a nympho or no. a person could have honest eyes, revealing eyes, or eyes that make promote intrinsic evaluation because the reflection from their big Beauiey blues. but dont take me word for it go and explore what you can gather from people's eyes.
