Funny that last few of Soyuz landing have ended up hundreds of miles for the targeted site. Might be why they're going with the new Kliper in 2014 after 40 years of the same general design.

Perhaps he really is superstitious? Or perhaps he's just trying to take the focus away from the crash... or his other policital hot spots.

I think that's utterly ridiculous. The mere fact that he can assuage any guilt by blaming the number of women is beyond rational reasoning.

Good info and maybe it's true about the sexism because women do have sex power and we (men) may feel some pressure.

this report serves as a warning to the strength of their scientific infrastructure. when the person in charge of the space program says they will insure that the number of women doesn't outnumber the men on-board, you know they have an idiot running their program. You'd expect him to be one of their very best technological managers. And he advocates superstitious reasoning to solve technological problems. So instead of looking at what is an obvious systems problem, will our major space partner start demanding control & support staff cross their fingers? That always helped when i was eight.

oh please. we know this is BS. we all know its the guys that get lost on a long trip.

Basically dudes are going to do stupid things with women around, even in space. It is not the women who are at fault. Look who survived in the movie Aliens.
