I don't know why girls' or women's opinions on why their lives are worse than those of boys or men are news or of any interest. You don't see these studies from males. Furthermore, other studies report that young women are dramatically faster in executive positions than men. And as for the double standards or feelings that they "have to do it all," these are not just the product of men - particularly the latter. Women have dug their own hole on this one - interesting how many say they wish that they could be homemakers in 1950's fashion... and how many of my 30-something year -old female classmates from high school have decided to do just that!

Contrary to cnebbe's opinion, I think it IS news, and of interest.
And honestly, it sounds like a very male response. Is it not possible that the feelings about "doing it all" are not a product of our indecision and choices, but rather a response to societal demands? Traditional pressures remain (i.e. motherhood and stepford wives), with additional expectations now that gender equality has progressed. Cracking under the weight is somewhat understandable.
I do agree, however, that it would be interesting to see more male inclusive studies. Find out where these roadblocks are being laid.
As a 21 year old female myself, I'm disappointed by the way gender issues are swept under the rug. As with race, now that equal rights is "mainstream," we seem to ignore obvious disparities as a culture. Is it more polite to pretend they don't exist? Perhaps. For me, it's just unfortunate.
TCF, I love your stuff. Keep up the great work.
