Pregnant man gives birth to baby girl

Infamous pregnant transgender man Thomas Beatie, 34, gave birth to a health baby girl on Sunday. According to a source, Beatie gave birth naturally and reports that he had a caesarean section are false.

Beatie was born female, but has been living as a man for several years and has legally changed his gender from female to male. He has also had his breasts surgically removed and has taken hormones in order to aid the transition process. However, having kept his female reproductive organs, he decided to give birth after it became evident that his wife, Nancy, was not able to have any more biological children. He was impregnated with sperm from an anonymous donor.

Beatie made headlines when first pictures of the 'pregnant man' appeared in April. In a controversial interview with Oprah, he famously declared that he thinks it is his 'right' to have a biological child even though he is a man.

    It's a baby girl ..... for now. Just kidding I wish them the best and am very happy for them. I wonder if the prolife, ant-gay people are mad that this ever happened or happy that they keeped the baby.

  • There is nothing special about a pregnant woman having a baby, and the fact that she mutilated her body in order to achieve her "new" self image, which somehow legally changes her gender to a man is preposterous.

  • This is rediculous how much attention it has gotten. This is not a pregnant "man"....its a pregnant biological female and while for them it is special, unless we are going to start giving every pregnant woman this kind of attention its really stupid. If it were a biological male that transed into a female then it would be amazing because the odds of that are incredibly small. Sorry t everyone out there that thinks this is amazing, the plain truth is it just isnt.

  • I think everyone who has followed this story - and how could you avoid it - knows that Beatie was born female, but thanks for the explanation. What is interesting, because it is not generally discussed in public and raises some interesting questions, however, is the fact that someone who is psychologically, socio-culturally and legally male can become pregnant and give birth to a child. Everyone who focuses exclusively on the medical or physical aspect of it only to say that the whole thing is 'boring' or not worthy of discussion misses the point entirely.

    A person who was born female changed their gender, LEGALLY, making them him MALE. In the process he got pregnant, because he knew this would be his chance to give birth to a child. I don't know why people can't wrap themselves around this, and why people are getting so upset.

    How rare and WONDERFUL is it that two people WANT to bring a child into this world and give it all the love they can?

  • yay congrats to them! Im so saddened by all the naysayers who are saying "I feel bad for that poor child." I dont, that kid has two loving parents that WANT to have it...unfortunately not a lot of kids today are born into families that want them. So congrats to the lucky couple! May they have a long happy life as a family.
