High costs are making transport and meal time more and more difficult to pay for among those hovering at the several dollars a day level. Here's a snippet of this reality for one commuter and an extended family in Dakar, Senegal. It's the same story everywhere, but in Africa, especially in West African countries where currencies are pegged to the overvalued euro, it seems the bite of high costs is that much more severe.
