Strangely, we have a political prisoner in Mumia Abu Jamal and we have human rights heroes like Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. who would likewise under the present political climate not be accepted for their ideals. Michael Eric Dyson, analyzed that Dr. King would be, in these times, too radical for the majority of the American people. Isn't that strange! Then go ahead and listen to his speech about the illegal war in Vietnam! You'll get the idea! By today's standard King would be a radical!
For all of this,Senator Obama would have to distance himself from Dr. King if he were alive today, just as he had to distance himself from Reverend Wright! This is the reality and nature of where we are historically in this political stage and where we are as a whole in our perceptions of what is radical and what is not radical. Because of the mainstream public, who cannot get a grip on what Americans went through in the '60's. We're essentially living through the fluctuations of political correctness and behaviors that somehow decides who we vote for. Only repetitions of the same behavior patterns of the past, ad naseaum, and because of the political directions of correctness of the times, we vote against the radical and for the mainstream candidate.
Two of such people Ralph Nader, and Jesse Jackson have lived through these times and know that things have gotten worse. Rev. Jackson made a remark, unbeknownst that his microphone was on, and therefore his remarks were open to the public. But I can only see angy people, who have lived through turmoil and have only seen things get worse! It's no surprise to me why the contentiousness is coming out, lashing at candidates that may falter to status quo and the power within the mainstream. It is obvious what Senator Obama must do to win the election.
