You are no longer permitted to ask questions of the VP candidate
The campaign also lashed out at the media and called for an end to questions about Palin's background and her family. Senior campaign adviser Steve Schmidt decried what he called a "faux media scandal designed to destroy the first female Republican nominee" for vice president.
"This nonsense is over," Schmidt declared in a written statement.
END QUOTE.
Total BS! While questions can be categorized into appropriate and not, we the American people have every right to ask about a potential VP's background and experience.
I'm particularly disturbed by the ties, however slight, to a secession movement, and the views on anti-abortion (even in cases of rape!)

"The campaign also lashed out at the media and called for an end to questions about Palin's background.."
It's called vetting, Gramps! Yes, vetting! Something you claimed you did thoroughly when you spent 15 minutes groping Caribou Barbie up right before you renewed your viagra prescription and made a gift you got for your 72nd birthday your VP running mate.
Gramps, crack kills, sir. Seriously, there is Betty Ford for those who can't just say no, sir. Betty Ford is a Republican, sir.

How dare they say "faux media scandal designed to destroy the first female Republican nominee."
Yes, because those Democrats are so sexist, wouldn't you know! Never mind all of the sexist venom spewed at Hillary from Fox News pundits. Obviously every attack on Palin is BECAUSE SHE'S A WOMAN!
Which party is it that doesn't care about women's rights, including not just reproductive rights, but also the right to equal pay for equal work? Oh yeah...theirs.
This is the very definition of "playing the gender card."

Why are they lashing out at the media and calling for an end to question about Palin's family and background? This type of thing from the media is nothing new. We/they have spent several months getting dirt on Obama and Mccain and they've been throwing it back at each other. We also know about Biden (though mostly from when he tried running for president years ago). If he had announced who his pick for VP was weeks ago, we would have gotten certain rumors and scandals out of the way and there wouldn't be as many questions being asked about her personal life and background in the middle of the RNC.
-
Yeah, why should she be exempt? Every public figure in this nation gets tortured by the media like this. The very idea that they want a stop put to digging on Palin raises suspicions about what they're hiding...
The republicans honesty record is so thoroughly clean and sparkling, we should just take it for granted she's an excellent pick...
-
Not asking questions? What? What kind of BS is this? Are we supposed to take thier word for everything? (LOL) Does anyone want to buy a bridge? I am honest and trust worthy!
-
They've even locked her up in a motel room to keep us from asking her questions, no tour meeting delegates. They've got to train her first as to what to answer to questions and such. If she's ready to be VP why is she in hiding?
-
It's ludicrous for us to not be able to inquire about the questionable circumstances that surround Sarah Palin. Barely anyone in this country even knows the woman's name, let alone her abilities and experience that makes her a responsible pick as Vice President. It's almost outright ridiculous that they are calling for and "end to the questioning," when all we have in our heads about this woman are questions.
-
if you going to attack her or any politician for that matter, attack them on the issues that he/she stands for or his/her actions. don't attack them for what happened to their child, it has nothing to do with how good of a politician he/she will be
-
Not asking questions? What happened to debate, and the discussion of issues?
I can understand asking that people respect the privacy of the rest of the Palin family, but not to question her background at all is ridiculous. That's what happens in politics, you look at someone's record and what they've done.
This election just gets more and more surreal every day. By November, I'm going to think I've walked into a Dali painting.
-
They were relentless about going after Bill Clinton, hounded Obama about Rev. Wright and friends, exposed Mark Foley and Larry Craig's extracurricular activities, and somehow SHE is off limits? Gov. Palin deserves no less scrutiny than ANYONE who represents the American people. It is our right to dissent on whatever we choose, especially to government. The first Amendment allows us that right. No matter how much they are pinching off coils all over on the Constitution.

here is a joke from the rush limbaugh show in 1993 , chelsea was 13 years old
Everyone knows the Clintons have a cat. Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is a White House dog?" And he puts up a picture of Chelsea Clinton. Chelsea Clinton is 13 years old.
john mccain joke from 98
"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because Janet Reno is her father".

Put on your ten gallon hat and quit asking questions. This woman is the next GOP deity. Tonight they will anoint her, second in command to the supream decision maker.
-
I'm not in the press.
I'm a voter and I'll ask whatever the f*ck I want. -
That's right.
And nothing is going to stop me.
Nothing is going to stop you either. So a message to you whine ass hypocritical Republicans:
Deal with it bitches!
We're not going away.
it'll show you which candidate best suits YOU.
and NO, I do NOT support Obama either.
so you can pack your arguments about left vs. right too.-

Its fine to attack her on everything. Just leave her daughter the hell out of it. And the disabled baby doesn't deserve to have the bloggosphere making up rumors about who his mother is. Last to act like her being a mother should effect her decisions as VP is sexist. No one ever asks if the father can be a good candidate. Where are all the liberal feminist out saying it is unfair that the liberal media would say she cant balance work and family. Yep you guessed it. Liberal ideology comes before feminist ideology.
OMG he said it.
i wonder how hillary thinks about the attacks. I do know she feels that the media fucked her over.
current.com must have been what President Bush was talking about when he referenced the "angry left"
why cant you guys just be happy?

"When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about the excess criticism or maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, man, that doesn't do us any good."
-Sara Palin told Newsweek magazine in March regarding Hillary Clinton's criticism of the media. -
If she can't handle the inquiries of some liberal internet bloggers and the mainstream media, then how can she hope to handle the country as a VP?

I was much happier before I paid attention to politics, and I'm desperately trying to go back to being that way. I feel humiliated by the candidates desire to pander and distract us with meaningless rhetoric and scandal while the real problems the country is facing go un-talked about and therefore unresolved. Somebody come and get me when the real Revolution starts.

We have every right to research into Palin's political history and where she stands on issues. No one's denying that, but I think that this junk like tracking down her daughter's boyfriend on myspace and looking up her husband's DUI in 1986 is ridiculous. It has nothing to do with the election, and this kind of "news" is just adding to the pool of uneducated voters.

I can tell you from experience that BOTH parties check out every thing they can get on the opposition. To say that Palin has been treated unfairly is simply absurd and naive. I can also tell you from professional experience that GOP 'campaign manuals' have very explicit instructions about what kinds of dirt to dig up, what kinds of information are most damaging, where to get it, and how best to EXPLOIT it.
I also knew Tom DeLay and the folk who financed the Swift Boat campaign against Kerry. These people are evil incarnate.
Frankly, Kerry should have seen it coming and struck pre-emptively. Kerry should have put George W. Bush's sorry and criminal record on prime time. Kerry should have made Bush's AWOL/Traitor status issue number one.
As for Palin ---she is a mediocre intellect IF THAT! She is as dumb as a stump, hardly Presidential material. Given McCain's codger status, Palin has made AGE the big issue of this campaign. What if McCain croaks and Palin becomes President?
