Paris Ghetto Film Fest
Each year, French film director Luc Besson organizes an open air film festival in several Parisian suburbs, places which are generally considered no-go areas, where cars are set on fire and ambulances get attacked... Last year Luc Besson convinced directors at the Cannes Festival to send him a copy of their brand new movies to screen them in the suburbs. Tarantino, Brad Pitt and others agreed. The people from the suburbs were incredibly happy to have those movies screened for free on the same day as the premiere in Cannes.
Journalists covering this festival were not allowed to collect pictures of burning cars, but had to ask people about the newest cinema releases... the event was a surprisingly strong political stament comming from a commercial movie producer as well as a huge success with over 60.000 spectators.
This year, the festival is held again in a slightly modified version and it's supposed to be even bigger...VC2 producer Philip Mayrhoffer will talk to Luc Besson and spectators to cover the event. Underground hip hop and the sellout ...
If you're a fan of real underground hip hop and rap then you've noticed how everyone is for sale. This is called being professional, aka "give me money"... There use to be a time when you got on a mixtape based on skills: now automated messages go out concerning prices and no one listens anymore.
If Nas couldn't afford or just didn't want to pay to be heard then we would be without a living legend. A&R used to go looking for talent - now it's just a networked wall of fake DJs who take money for spin.
This is just my opinion, if you agree with me or just feel my music, I'm down for collabs (based on skills, I'm not looking for money), (real) DJs, people who just want someone wit lyrical value to rhyme on their beat ... hit me up.

Rap fan pays fine rather than listen to classical music
A defendant had a hard time facing the music. Ludwig van Beethoven's music fails to appeal to a man fined for playing rap music too loudly in his car.
Andrew Vactor was facing a $150 fine for playing rap music too loudly on his car stereo in July. But a judge offered to reduce that to $35 if Vactor spent 20 hours listening to classical music by the likes of Bach, Beethoven and Chopin.
Vactor, 24, lasted only about 15 minutes, a probation officer said.
It wasn't the music, Vactor said, he just needed to be at practice with the rest of the Urbana University basketball team.
"I didn't have the time to deal with that," he said. "I just decided to pay the fine."
Champaign County Municipal Court Judge Susan Fornof-Lippencott says the idea was to force Vactor to listen to something he might not prefer, just as other people had no choice but to listen to his loud rap music. Beyonce speaks on marriage with Jay-Z
Jay-Z and Beyonce are married. That has been something "private" to Jay and B but it's never really been too much of a secret. Still, Beyonce has decided to remain quiet about their marriage for some time. Nevertheless, she recently spoke out about why she's been tight lipped about it and more.
"I feel that, especially now, with the Internet and paparazzi and camera phones, it's so difficult to maintain mystery," she told Essence. "And that's so important. Even in a relationship, I feel like not being that accessible is really important. If you think about Prince or Michael Jackson, or any superstars, you couldn't see them when they got off their planes or when they got out of the pool and didn't comb their hair. It's great that people see we're not perfect. But it's almost impossible to have superstars now, because people will never get enough. And it's not even about my music. It's about all the things that people imagine about me in their minds. But I can't satisfy everyone. I know that Jay and I probably do inspire people. And I appreciate people feeling proud. But this is the only way I've been able to stay sane, so why would I start talking now?"
"[Not speaking] controls your brand. It controls what you want to put out there and kind of forces people to talk about what you want them to talk about."
Still, B actually gave a little insight on their relationship.
"We decide everything," she noted. "My word is my word. What Jay and I have is real. It's not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It's real."

Jim Jones Disses T.I., While Tip Stays Diplomatic
Jim Jones has recently made clear his feelings about being left out of the “Swagger Like Us” single [click to listen].
“I think it was deliberate,” Jim Jones told Complex.com. “I really do think it was deliberate; maybe in my sick twisted mind I’m a little crazy. People know who set the precedent as far as fashion in this industry and people know who damn near changed the world as far as fashion...in the past five years I stepped in and gave them a taste of what rock and roll looks like from my side. I guess people would say from an urban side, and it seemed to catch on like wildfire, to the point that people was going to stores and asking for that Jim Jones look.”
The Diplomats member is now working on a track called “Jackin’ Swagger From Us,” featuring Lil Wayne and Juelz Santana. The song will use the same M.I.A. sample from the original record.
In addition to expressing his less than enthused feelings about being excluded from the track, Jim Jones also had a few words for the artists on the record, including rapper T.I

Scarface Calls McCain Racist, Uses Slurs In Rant Interview
In an interview with Rolling Out TV, Scarface [click to read] may have given the most controversial opinion on the presidential race yet.
Expressing his support for Illinois Senator Barack Obama, Scarface praised his political strategy. “I think Barack Obama has the right idea. I think he played his campaign very well. He didn’t lean his meter ‘either or,’ he came right in dead center, and that’s politics.”
However, on the other side of the coin, Scarface brutally bashed Senator John McCain and accused him of being a racist. “If you’ve never in you’ve life ever seen a nigga-hatin’ motherfucker, a motherfucker that just hates niggas, look at that fuckin’ pink-ass white boy,” ‘Face said without regret.
Continuing in an extreme sarcastic undertone, Scarface gave “respect” to McCain, and called out the candidates’ decision throughout the debate to avoid eye contact with Senator Obama. “At least he’s real with himself. The whole time they had their debate, you know that motherfuckin’ peckerwood would not look that nigga in his eyes. And that right there showed me the respect he had for niggas. John McCain man, I respect that.”

Alchemist And Evidence Form Group, Talk Ev's New Album
After critical success on last year's The Weatherman [click to read], Evidence has a new recording contract, and a new direction he's taking with his music. The Dilated Peoples' frontman says his forthcoming Layover EP is built in the tradition of Ice Cube's Kill At Will, Pete Rock & CL Smooth's All Souled Out and Bone Thugs N' Harmony's Creepin On Ah Comeup, as a short body of work alluding to change in his career.
“Backpack’ sucked, then ‘backpack’ was cool, then ‘backpack’ sucked again, now ‘backpack’ is cool again,” said Evidence. “Alternative’ was wack now ‘alternative’ is better. All I know is I do what I do. I’m not ‘hipster,’ I’m not ‘gangsta.’ If it’s a backpack, I gotta buy one, ‘cause I don’t own one. I’m doing progressive hop. It’s a new genre. Put it in your iTunes.”
The Layover EP will be promoted by a mixtape of the same name, and released on Decon Records. The single "The Layover" can be heard.

Lil Kim Sued For $2.5 Million
The New York Post reports Brookland Media filed a $2.5 lawsuit against Lil Kim on Tuesday (Oct. 7). The upstart label was founded by the production duo Jean-Claude "Poke" Olivier and Samuel "Tone" Barnes, collectively known as the Trackmasters. According to papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Brookland spent $240,000 to produce eight songs and paid the $12,000 monthly rent on an Alpine, NJ. home for the "Queen Bee." Brookline also alleges it paid $200,000 to get Kim released from her previous contract with Atlantic Records.
In the suit, Kim is also accused of making the "outlandish post-contract demands" of requesting the production services of Wyclef Jean and Akon.
"We think they're wonderful people and we expect to do business with them," says Londell McMillan, an attorney for Lil' Kim. "But they did not honor the terms of the agreement." McMillan added that Kim only wants to protect her image.
Lil Kim's career has besieged with setbacks since releasing The Naked Truth in 2005. In March of 2005, she was convicted of three counts of perjury and one count of conspiracy for lying to a federal grand jury about a shootout outside of a New York radio station. She would serve a 366-day prison sentence for the charges, before releasing the album Ms. G.O.A.T. in 2008. Things got worse after an assistant bartender bludgeoned a woman to death during Lil Kim's birthday party in August.

She's also taped TV shows for defendants in other cases to watch on topics such as financial responsibility.
