Israels Possession of Jerusalem Not Legal: Here's A Plan for Peace

Both Christians and Jews believe in every word in the Old Testament. Especially the Ten Commandments. So, why is Jerusalem being coveted by Israel? In fact, in Mark 11:15, Jesus quotes the scriptures in the Old Testament from both Isaiah 56:7 and Jeremiah 7:11 that the Temple in Jerusalem is a house of prayer for all Nations and not (for) a den of thieves.

All nations. All religions. All people.
And not for Thieves. Am I implying that Israel government are a bunch of thieves?

I sure am, and its causing much trouble in the world because of this illegal possession as well as illegal settlements. We want and need peace in the world. This is not the way.

The narrative of Jesus and the Money Changers occurs in both the Synoptic Gospels and in the Gospel of John, although it occurs close to the end of the Synoptic Gospels (at Mark 11:15–19, 11:27–33, Matthew 21:12–17, 21:23–27 and Luke 19:45–48, 20:1–8) but close to the start in John (at John 2:12–25) and as a result some biblical scholars think there may have been two incidents.

In the episode, Jesus is stated to have visited the Temple in Jerusalem, Herod's Temple, at which the courtyard is described as being filled with livestock and the tables of the money changers, who changed the standard Greek and Roman money for Jewish and Tyrian money, which were the only coinage that could be used in Temple ceremonies. According to the Gospels, Jesus took offense to this (extorting profit from the exchange of monies), and so, creating a whip from some cords, drives out the livestock, scatters the coins of the money changers, and turns over their tables, and those of the people selling doves.

When I was a child my brother and I would sometimes fight over a toy. My mother, God Bless her soul, would come in and ask what the problem was. Both my brother and I would say, "thats my toy". My mother would take the toy and say, "Now neither of you own that toy. You will share it and I will determine how".

My mother had a great plan. And I offer that plan to be presented to Israel in order to push forward with a real and solid road to peace. The area called Jerusalem will not be divided, will not be 'owned', but be shared in a common way with all nations, all people and all religions. Just the way the Bible says. Israel should also make concessions with land they illegally took. (They are actually doing this very quietly, with some of the illegal settlements, I've read)

This is the real road to peace.

I had contacted President elect Obama recently and presented him with an overall plan for world peace. A plan that would not accuse or prosecute anyone, but bring people together as one. My idea must have gotten the attention of someone, whether it was President Elect Obama himself or one of his aids since they sent me instructions for putting this in play with his administration as well as an upcoming site they are opening to the public soon (other than his election site).

I believe Israel can co-exist with Palestine. I know they are having trouble again in the Gaza Strip, but if they hadn't attacked some people there, there would not have been a 'response' from Palestine. Unfortunately, violence begets violence. Israel should be big about this and take some drastic peaceful measures for peace instead of drastic violence.

Obama Victory a catalyst for World Peace

Now, its time for We The People. What do we want? Change....We want to end to the occupation of Iraq. We want to reach a settlement in Afghanistan. We want diplomatic solutions to the conflict with Iran. We want a fair shake for the people of Palestine. We want to end hunger, especially in the USA and Africa. We want to bail out homeowners in foreclosure because of dishonest mortgage lenders.We want to restore our civil liberties and the protection of the Worlds environment. We want housing, new jobs, universal health care system, we want real change! We want a government that freezes profits and greed of banks and corporations.

We want a fair and honest government, and a fair and honest corporate world that takes care of its workers from bottom to top, not top to bottom. That goes for Current. Get back on your mission that you promised us. Too many people here have complained about the unfair voting system. And too much interference from editors and staff. Its about time Current cleans this up. Please do something about this. It is destroying Current. Current is a great idea, but some things are not right. I'd like to see Current grow even bigger.

World Peace may have been an idea and a dream, but reality begins with a dream. The day has come that reality merged with dreams and many peace movements are beginning to go forth with these dreams, including WPTV and its organizations.

American and Israeli politics are interdependent. In Israel, the moderate Kadima and Labor party leaderships now seem serious about reactivating negotiations with Arabs. But in recent weeks, the Kadima-Labor coalition failed to form a cabinet; snap elections are expected in February. The ultraconservative Benjamin Netanyahu may well become the next prime minister if Israelis continue to distrust the idea of trading Palestinian and Syrian land for peace. Over the next three months domestic public opinion and US politics will determine if the peace process is reactivated.

The title of my last column on the peace process was "Peace, Not in my Life Time." But I believe that the genius of Israel is pragmatism. Three issues require sober thinking. Israelis are not oblivious to a wave of change that is likely to emerge from next week's US elections. Israeli politicians are mindful of threatening Palestinian demography. Israelis ponder the implications of their creeping annexation of the West Bank. Many in Israel cannot but ponder the imponderable: If Palestine is virtually annexed, would Israel become automatically a bi-national state, looking like former South Africa?
